When you are new to travelling you might make a few mistakes, which was definitely the case when I caught the travel bug just over a year ago. Here are a few things I have learned from my experiences.
Save Money Where You Can
Whether it’s taking public transport instead of a taxi or couch surfing as opposed to staying in a hotel, saving money when you can really helps you get the most out of your travels. The money you save could be the difference between squeezing an extra city or two into your travel plans.
Set a Daily Budget
It’s always a good idea to set out a budget for your travels and how much you’re going to spend a day. It helps you keep track of your money and keep everything in order. When you are under budget you can carry over to the next day and treat yourself. When you have no specific budget on spending, money can begin to drain away if you’re not careful.
Pack What You Need
What you need to remember about travelling is you’ll more than likely pick up stuff along the way, so when you setting out its important to just pack the essentials. If you going to be travelling to many different places in one go it’s important that you’re comfortable and able to get around relatively easy with your luggage. It’s also a good idea to discard things you don’t need as you go too. I’ve had a few occasions where I’ve had to pay charges because my bag has been needlessly overweight.
Plan Ahead
This can save you a lot of money in the long run. Planning ahead well in advance you can find the cheapest rates of flights and accommodation. You can also find some great deals on activities and things to do in the areas you plan on visiting. Skyscanner is a great website for finding cheap flights. Whole trips have come from me finding a cheap flight and just going from there.
